D-Day Cricket

Here is the reproduction of the cricket or «clicker» used by the 101st Airborne during the night of June 5 to 6, 1944 in Sainte-Mère-Eglise and its surroundings.

Thanks to the click-clack of the cricket, the American paratroopers of the 101st Airborne could communicate with each other without being spotted by the German troops.

The cricket became famous by the movie The Longest Day and has become one of the symbols of D-Day and Normandy's Landing.
